Description
Sclerosant – Gorgeous Skin – for the treatment of varicose veins and vascular spiders
Echosclerotherapy with polidocanol can be used in large veins with stasis ulcers, in hemangiomas and venous malformations, in the elderly and in complicated recurrences of varicose veins. This extended horizon represents an expressive and auspicious novelty in angiology. These techniques are performed, for example, between five and six million sessions per year in France.
Foam echosclerotherapy has the same efficacy as open or intravenous surgery for varicose veins, recommendation of grade 2 C for asymptomatic varicose veins and 2 B for symptomatic varicose veins. Guyatt’s scale, however, does not consider the differentiated cost of the various procedures.
It seems to present better results with equivalent complications, constituting a more economical alternative and with the advantage of expanding the horizon of varicose veins treatment, including the most severe cases, that is, cases with stasis ulcers. The average durability of the echosclerotherapy treatment is around one to three years and the occlusion of the treated vein between 67 and 93.8% (mean of 84.4%).
Product administration by cardio vascular physicians only.
